This Privacy Statement covers the Processing of your Personal and Non-Personal Data in relation to your participation in the Activity as detailed here to request an online status match through the Online Form.

Capitalised terms in this Privacy Statement have the definitions given in the Terms and Conditions of the Activity available here

References to “us” or “our” mean Star Alliance Services GmbH, incorporated and domiciled in the Federal Republic of Germany. References to “our website” refer to the domain of staralliance.com.

This Privacy Statement and the Privacy Statement of Your Selected FFP

This Privacy Statement describes the Processing of your Personal Data by us for the purposes of administering your online request for a Status Match using the Online Form under the Activity. The full scope and purposes of such Processing are outlined in this Privacy Statement. Beyond its scope, this Privacy Statement does not cover the Processing of your Personal Data by either the Amigo FFP or the Owner of the Selected FFP to which you requested a Status Match. The applicable privacy policies of the Amigo FFP and/or Selected FFP apply instead.

Your Acceptance of this Privacy Statement

We advise you to become acquainted with this Privacy Statement and the structure of our website as explained herein. By providing any Personal Data of yours in relation to the Activity, you accept this Privacy Statement.

Your Personal and Non-Personal Data

By “Personal Data”, we refer to any information that specifically relates to you (as an “identified person”), or information that may be traced back to you (as an “identifiable person”).
As a separate matter, when you use our website, we also collect information in a form that, on its own, does not permit direct association with you as a specific natural person. For example, this includes your language settings, your current location, IP address (to the extent that it cannot be traced back to a specific street address) and user activity on the Star Alliance Website. In this Privacy Statement, we refer to all such information as “Non-Personal Data”.

Which Personal Data of Yours Will Be Processed

In order to request a Status Match under the Activity, you will be required to provide the following Personal Data of yours through the Online Form:
(a)    First Name, as printed on your Amigo FFP card
(b)    Last Name, as printed on your Amigo FFP card
(c)    Oceanair Amigo FFP Number
(d)    Selected FFP where you seek the Status Match
(e)    Selected FFP Number
(f)    Email address
The provision of the above information is mandatory and indicated accordingly with an asterisk in the Online Form. You are not required to provide any Personal Data, but failure to provide such Personal Data will preclude us from processing your Status Match request. In addition to the above date, we will record the data and outcome of your Status Match request.

Purposes for Which Your Personal Data Will Be Processed and Basis for Processing

We will take utmost care to process your data securely, in accordance with the requirements of the applicable law.
We will use your First Name, Last Name and Oceanair Amigo FFP Number to confirm whether your Oceanair Amigo FFP status corresponded to a Star Alliance Gold Status, since that is a prerequisite for a Status Match. By accepting this Privacy Statement and requesting a Status Match through the Online Form, you authorise and instruct us to perform this act. If your status is confirmed and Eligibility for a status match is established, we will forward your First Name and Last Name to the Owner of the Selected FFP you requested in the Online Form, along with the Selected FFP Number you provided to enable the conferral of a Star Alliance Gold Status by the Selected FFP. The basis for such processing is your consent.
We will process the date and outcome of your Amigo FFP status validation and your Status Match request to observe that you comply with the restrictions of participation stated in the Terms & Conditions of the Activity. The basis for such processing is your consent and/or our legitimate interest in safeguarding that the Status Match is conducted in accordance with the Terms & Conditions.  
Your email address will be used to contact you and advise you of the outcome of your application and, if applicable, forwarded to the Selected FFP to verify your identity and advise you of a status match, if so granted. The basis for such processing is your consent and/or the legitimate interest of notifying you of the outcome of your Status Match request

Who Will Receive Your Personal Data

Your Personal Data will be received or accessed by:
•    Us, in order to process the Status Match request you submit through the Online Form in accordance with this Privacy Statement and the Terms and Conditions of the Activity.

•    The Online Content Management System providers operating the Online Form through which you will request the Status Match. Those providers are located in the European Union and are subject to confidentiality and other contractual and legal obligations for the lawful Processing of your Personal Data.

•    The Owners of the Selected FFP from which you requested a Status Match through the Online Form.
Depending on the location of the Owner of the Selected FFP, your Personal Data may be exported outside the European Economic Area, where lower data protection standards may apply. The exportation of your Personal Data will be subject to appropriate safeguards in line with the applicable legal requirements. The basis for such exportation would be an applicable adequacy decision by the competent regulatory authority, or the applicable EU standard contractual clauses.

Your Consent

To the extent that the legal basis for the processing of your Personal Data is your consent, you may revoke your consent at any time by contacting us. Please note that withdrawal of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of your Personal Data prior to such withdrawal and may preclude us from processing your Status Match request submitted under the Online Form.

Retention of Your Personal Data

Your Personal Data will be deleted when no longer needed for the purpose processed, as outlined in this Privacy Statement. Please be reminded that, if the basis for our processing is your consent, then you may revoke such consent in accordance with above section entitled Your Consent. We may also retain your Personal Data for our compliance with applicable statutory requirements and the defence of any legal claims thereunder. However, your Personal Data will be deleted upon the lapse of such statutory requirements.

Your Rights on Your Personal Data

Under REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation), you maintain the following rights over your Personal Data:
Right to Access, Correct or Delete. You have the right to access your Personal Data by requesting a copy of it using the contact details indicated below. You also have the right to demand its correction or deletion using the same means of communication.
Right to Object. In addition, you have the right to object to the processing of your Personal Data and withdraw your consent to its future processing by contacting us through the means indicated in the ‘Contact Information’ section below.
Complaints. You have the right to lodge a complaint of an alleged infringement of the applicable data protection laws with the supervisory authority of your choice.

Session Tracking (JSESSIONID)
We use this cookie throughout the whole Star Alliance website and mobile Star Alliance website to store the users’ session ID in a cookie instead of the URL. The session ID is used to store inputs made by the user, such as date selections, departure and arrival airports etc.

Usage Tracking – (__utma, __utmb, __utmc and __utmz)
We use this cookie to analyse users’ behaviour, create statistics and recognize usage patterns.

Auto Suggestion (RECENT_AIRPORTS)
This cookie is used to store airport names recently entered by the user.

Most Internet browsers, smartphones and other web-enabled devices allow users to control the acceptance of cookies through browser settings. You can choose to delete all Star Alliance related cookies from your device at any time if you wish to do so by unchecking the “Recognize me” box in the settings menu available on our website.
