Star Alliance Launches New Round the World Booking Tool

Customers who would like to take a Round the World trip can now take advantage of the new booking tool, developed by Travel Compositor for Star Alliance, spanning the network of 27 member airlines, covering more than 1,250 destinations in 195 countries. The platform allows customers to easily create itineraries by validating more than 200 conditions in the background for the two Star Alliance products Round the World and Circle Pacific.

With just a few clicks, customers can easily plan, save and share their itinerary online. The online tool automatically adapts to the applicable fare rules and calculates the ticket price based on travel distance, number of stopovers, routes and class of service.

Round the World fares are generally an attractive value for money proposition, especially when compared to individual one-way tickets on separate airlines for the same journey. The total price of an RTW ticket is dependent on class of travel, the precise itinerary, mileage and routing selected, as well as currency exchange rate fluctuations.

Star Alliance and TravelCompositor have joined efforts, technology and knowledge to improve the customer experience of booking Alliance products, thereby allowing the planning of mileage based Round the World or Pacific Circle journeys covering up to 26,000, 29,000, 34,000 and 39,000 miles in distance. To put these levels in perspective, the circumference of the earth measured at the equator is 24,901 miles.

The interactive and user-friendly tool is now available in four additional languages- Chinese, French, Portuguese and Spanish, in addition to English, German and Japanese.

The Star Alliance Round the World fares are available for travel in First, Business, Premium Economy or Economy Class and are valid for 12 months.
Customers travelling on Star Alliance RTW fares may accrue miles or points in any of the member carrier Frequent Flyer Programmes (FFP). The collected miles/points may count towards earning Star Alliance Gold or Silver status and can be redeemed for example for free flights, upgrades, or hotel stays (subject to the terms and conditions of the individual FFP).
