Star Alliance Team Competes in Race the Plane Fundraiser

Yesterday Star Alliance joined 27 other teams at London Heathrow Terminal 2, underneath the 'Slipstream' sculpture to race the United Airlines, flight UA 883 to Newark.

Departing at 8:00 AM, 28 teams of 13 riders cycled the cumulative total distance of approximately 3456 miles to Newark Liberty International airport, faster than the plane. The challenge was successfully completed with the cyclists beating UA883 by 90 minutes, burning 172,800 calories in the process and raising over £100,000 for charity.
