As a proud member of Star Alliance, Asiana Airlines has continued to maintain its 5-star rating by Skytrax for 9 consecutive years since the year of 2007 and also received the ‘Airline of the Year’ award from Air Transport World (ATW) in 2009, Skytrax in 2010, Global Traveler in 2011 and Premier Traveler/Business Traveler in 2012.
With only 28 years of history, Asiana Airlines has achieved a remarkable growth, operating 83 aircrafts to 24 countries, 75 cities, and 89 international passenger routes. Soo Cheon Kim Soo Cheon Kim President and CEO, Asiana Airlines
Soo Cheon Kim has been with Asiana Airlines since its founding in 1988. He worked in passenger sales for nine years before being transferred to the Shanghai Sales Office in 1997. During his time in China he helped develop the market for Asiana Airlines in the region. His efforts greatly contributed to Asiana’s current position as the No.1 foreign carrier operating to China. In 2000, Kim returned to Seoul to manage passenger marketing and sales in the Greater China Region.
In 2008, Kim was appointed President & CEO of Asiana’s regional affiliate, Air Busan, in 2008. In his nearly six years at Air Busan, Kim successfully led the carrier to its first profitable fiscal year in 2010—a record turnaround for a new airline. He was appointed President of Asiana Airlines on January 1, 2014 in recognition of his contributions to both Asiana and Air Busan.
