Star Alliance Offers International Travellers Free Rounds of Golf

Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth™, is offering a free round of golf or a free golf lesson to customers based in the United States taking a roundtrip international flight on any of the member carriers between March 1 and May 31, 2007. Travel must be on a paid international ticket for either First Class, Business Class or in select cases, Economy Class.

According to Nanci Cheberenchick, Director Sales & Market Development Americas, Star Alliance: “We chose golf for this promotion as our research shows that it is one of the favorite sports of our main target group, the frequent international traveler. By offering our customers a round of golf at some of the most sought after golf courses both here in the United States or overseas, we are rewarding loyalty with a unique experience.”

In order to participate in this promotion customers need to register online at www.staralliance.com/golf prior to travel, providing both their frequent flyer member details and a valid e-mail address. For those not yet participating in any of the Star Alliance member carriers’ Frequent Flyer Programs, signing up for any of these can be done at the same time as registering for this promotion.

Three days after completion of travel, customers will be sent a voucher for either the free round of golf or the golf lesson, which can be redeemed on-line until November 26, 2007 at any one of the 200 golf courses which are participating worldwide. In the United States, there are 56 participating golf courses which include Pebble Beach Resort, the Otter Creek Golf Course and the Pine Meadows Golf Club.

From the United States, customers can chose from 3200 weekly international flights operated by 16 Star Alliance member carriers – Air Canada, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, SWISS, TAP Portugal, THAI, United, US Airways – to reach 70 international destinations in 48 countries.
