Star Alliance and TechSpan Enterprise sign Master Services Agreement

Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth, and TechSpan Enterprise GmbH, a subsidiary of Headstrong, today signed a comprehensive Master Services Agreement (MSA) for its e-business applications on staralliance.com.

The MSA, which partners Star Alliance and TechSpan Enterprise for three years, gives the alliance cost-efficient access to a global pool of system architects, domain experts and e-business consultants.  These resources will focus on optimising the alliance applications housed on www.staralliance.com, and will enhance the airport services decision tool currently being used by alliance member carriers.

“We’ve worked with TechSpan for three years now and this deal further crystallises our mutually beneficial relationship,” said Michael Stagl, chief information officer for Star Alliance. “The contract gives us great coverage for web applications such as our Alliance Collaboration System as well as yielding savings of at least 30-40 per cent.”

“It's never easy to be a 'pioneer' in any field, but Star Alliance has proven that with the right tools and ingenuity, anything is possible”, said Arjun Malhotra, chairman of the board of Headstrong.  “We are excited about continuing the partnership to explore and implement additional innovations that will make the airline network even more attractive to its global customers.”

Star Alliance was established in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to offer customers global reach and a smooth travel experience. The members are Air Canada, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Mexicana Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Spanair, Thai Airways International, United, and VARIG Brazilian Airlines.  US Airways is scheduled to join the alliance in 2004.
