Chairman & CEO, EGYPTAIR
Captain Tawfik Assy, the Chairman & CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company, returned to his position on September 26, 2012. His diverse industry knowledge and experience is attributable to his almost four decades of service in various senior technical and management positions at EGYPTAIR; he was Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Tourism and Duty Free between 2003 and April 2008, then was appointed as the Chairman Smart Airline and then chaired EGYPTAIR Holding Company in April 2008.
During his tenure as EGYPTAIR Holding Chairman, Captain Assy achieved significant level of success; he played a substantial role in many influential projects that actively supported and enhanced EGYPTAIR’s performance. As a Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Tourism and Duty Free he recorded tremendous accomplishments through refining and expanding the concept of duty free shopping at all major Egyptian Airports. He quadrupled the total revenues of the company in four years.
He is known for offering excellent business solutions. He played a key role in EGYPTAIR expansion plan and businesses modernization.
Captain Assy was a member of the IATA Board of Governors and also the Executive Committees of the African Airline Association (AFRAA) and the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). He earned credit for his role in the airline’s membership of Star Alliance, IT systems integration and enhancement, safety and quality assurance and environmental initiatives.
Captain Assy joined EGYPTAIR in December 1970 as maintenance engineer. Since then, he has worked as a pilot, captain, instructor and Examiner on various types of aircraft; namely B707, Fokker, B737, A320/330/340.
Capt. Assy holds a B. SC. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University and a Diploma in Administration Management. He is married and has one son, two daughters and one granddaughter.
