EGYPTAIR, Turkish Airlines, United and US Airways share new facility

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - February 18th, 2012 - Star Alliance and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol have today opened the first ever alliance branded ticket desk at Holland’s main international aviation hub.

The new facility in Terminal 3 can be easily identified by the so called Star Alliance ‘Earthpic’ branding. The 10 available counters will be shared between EGYPTAIR, Turkish Airlines, United and US Airways, allowing for improved communication between the participating member airlines. This will allow the airlines to provide a higher level of customer service, especially in case of irregularities. Passengers also benefit from the closer distance between ticketing and checkin facilities.

The Star Alliance branded ticket desk is the first step in a series of measures planned at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in order to improve both the customer experience and the Alliance branding. All member carriers operating out of Terminal 3 (flights to so called non-Schengen destinations) are considering to collocate their checkin counters. At the same time, all Star Alliance member carriers operating out of Terminal 1 (flights to so called Schengen destinations) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are investigating possibilities of achieve collocation of checkin facilities.

Star Alliance has the second largest customer offer in and out of Amsterdam with 13 member airlines operating 772 weekly flights serving 22 destinations in 14 countries.
