Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass – Terms and Conditions

  • The Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass is designed for Economy class trips within the South West Pacific area via the services of Air New Zealand (NZ).
  • Within the South West Pacific area, the ticket is valid in the following countries:
    Australia, New Zealand, Niue, Tonga, Fiji, Cook Islands, Western Samoa, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, French Polynesia.
  • The Airpass is available in conjunction with international Round Trips, Star Alliance Round the World or Circle Fares to/from/via South West Pacific and those flights must be on scheduled services in First, Business or Economy class of a Star Alliance member carrier.
  • The Airpass is available to residents of a country outside the South West Pacific area.
  • One Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass can be purchased per international Return, Round the World, Circle Trip or Single Open Jaw ticket to/from/via the South West Pacific. Upon request proof of residency must be presented.
  • The Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass consists of 3 to 10 flight coupons.
  • The total airfare of the South Pacific Airpass is determined by the mileage range of the itinerary plus applicable fees, taxes and surcharges
  • Children between the ages of 2-11 years pay 75% and infants under 2 years not occupying a seat pay 10% of the applicable adult fare. If an infant turns 2 years during the journey, the children fare will be applied for the entire journey and a separate seat will be provided. Proof of age is required at time of ticketing. Children and infants must be accompanied on all sectors in the same cabin by a Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass adult passenger paying the full South Pacific Airpass fare. Unaccompanied children or infants are not accepted.
  • The Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass can be bought in combination with Star Alliance redemption programme tickets.
  • All flights of the Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass will accrue miles to the passengers nominated Star Alliance Frequent Flyer Programme, depending on the rules of your chosen Frequent Flyer Programme.
  • Air New Zealand (NZ) has the right to exclude single flights from the Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass. Furthermore they can limit the number of passengers travelling with a Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass on any given flight.

Planning the route

  • There is no minimum stay required for your trip. It may last up to 3 months from the beginning of your travel on the first Airpass coupon to completion of travel on the last Airpass coupon.
  • Two stopovers are required. They are permitted at any point served by Air New Zealand (NZ). A stopover is a stay of more than 24 hours. Any point may be transited additional times for the purpose of making transfer connections requiring less than 24 hours.
  • Changing flights at a transfer/connecting point requires an additional coupon.
  • Individual sectors may not be travelled more than once in each direction.
  • Surface sectors in-between are allowed at your own expense. If such break in itinerary exceeds 24 hours it is considered as one stopover.

Advance Reservations

  • Reservations for the first flight of the South Pacific Airpass must be made prior to arrival in the South West Pacific area. Subsequent flights may be left open and booked at any time before the departure.

Your ticket

  • The Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass may be issued worldwide.
  • You can purchase your Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass at your local travel agent or at any Star Alliance member airline reservation center. You may alternatively use the online Star Alliance to plan your desired trip and to email your itinerary directly from the tool to your preferred Star Alliance airline offering this service for availability check, fare calculation and reservation.
  • At the time of ticket purchase and check-in you must present a proof of permanent residence and your international ticket.
  • The Star Alliance South Pacific Airpass has to be issued separately from your international ticket.
  • Combination of H-Class and T-Class sectors within a South Pacific Airpass itinerary is permitted.

Change of plans

  • Voluntary changes are permitted without penalty, provided routing is unchanged.
  • In case of a rerouting, requiring a reissue of the ticket, a fee of USD 50 per reissue will be charged. Purchase of additional coupons is allowed in case new routing requires transfer as no direct operations are available and as long as coupon limit of 10 is not yet reached.
  • The fee for change of routing is nonrefundable.
  • This rule is applicable for adults, children and infants.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • Before departure: If a ticket is totally unused, it will be refunded less a cancellation charge of USD 75 per person. This rule is applicable for adults, children and infants.
  • After departure: The refund will be the difference between the fare paid and the applicable normal fare for transportation used.

Baggage

  • Baggage Allowance shall be the same as in the international/intercontinental ticket that this Airpass is connected to. Should this be a multi-airline ticket, the most restrictive baggage policy shall apply.
