1 Flight Applicability

  • 1.1 The Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass is designed for Economy class trips through Micronesia and from selected locations in Asia to Micronesia via the services of United Airlines (UA).
  • 1.2 The selected locations in Asia from which travel on a Micronesia Airpass may commence are: Japan (CTS, FUK, HIJ, KIJ, KIX, NGO, OKA, OKJ, TYO), Hong Kong (HKG), Manila (MNL) and Cairns (CNS).
  • 1.3 Micronesia is defined as Guam (GUM), Federated States of Micronesia (KSA, PNI, TTK, YAP), Marshall Islands (KWA, MAJ), Northern Mariana Islands (ROP, SPN) and Palau (ROR).
  • 1.4 The Micronesia Airpass is available all year round and only to people resident outside Micronesia. A valid proof of residence (such as a passport, immigration stamp/visa) must be presented on demand. Additionally, the intercontinental ticket must be presented at time of check in.
  • 1.5 The Airpass is available when purchased in connection with any Star Alliance intercontinental ticket, issued outside of Micronesia for travel to/via Micronesia and/or any destination in Asia. You may purchase only one Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass per intercontinental ticket.
  • 1.6 The Airpass can be bought in combination with Star Alliance redemption programme tickets. However, it may not be sold in combination with airline industry discounted ID/AD tickets. All flights of the Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass will accrue miles to the passengers nominated Star Alliance Frequent Flyer Programme, depending on the rules of your chosen Frequent Flyer Programme.

2 Fare Calculation

  • 2.1 The total airfare is determined by the total cost of all coupons booked, plus applicable fees, taxes and surcharges. The cost of each coupon depends on the distance to be travelled.
  • 2.2 Children between the ages of 2-11 years pay 75% and infants under 2 years not occupying a seat pay 10% of the applicable adult fare. If an infant turns 2 years during the journey, the children fare will be applied for the entire journey. Proof of age is required at time of ticketing. Children and infants must be accompanied on all sectors by a Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass adult passenger. Unaccompanied children or infants are not accepted.

3 Planning the route

  • 3.1 The Micronesia Airpass journey must start at a city in Micronesia or in the following cities which have UA direct services to GUM: CTS, CNS, FUK, HIJ, HKG, KIJ, KIX, MNL, NGO, OKA, OKJ, PNI and TYO.
  • 3.2 The minimum stay required for your trip is 3 days. It may last up to 3 months from the beginning of your travel on the first Airpass coupon to completion of travel on the last Airpass coupon, but may not exceed the validity of your intercontinental ticket.
  • 3.3 The Micronesia Airpass permits stopovers. A stopover is a stay of more than 24 hours in the same city and only one stopover may be made in each city (except in Guam (GUM) where unlimited stopovers are permitted).
  • 3.4 Individual sectors may not be travelled more than once in each direction.
  • 3.5 Surface sectors in-between are allowed at your own expense and are excluded from the maximum coupon limit as well as the total Airpass fare. If such break in itinerary exceeds 24 hours it is considered as one stopover.
  • 3.6 The Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass consists of 3 to 10 flight coupons.

4 The Ticket and Advance Reservations

  • 4.1 The Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass must be issued separately from, and include a cross-reference to the intercontinental ticket. You can purchase your Star Alliance Micronesia Airpass at your local travel agent or at any Star Alliance member airline reservation center.
  • 4.2 The first flight of the Micronesia Airpass must be confirmed before departure. The subsequent flights may be left open.
