Star Alliance Brazil Airpass – Terms and Conditions
1 Flight Applicability
- 1.1 The Star Alliance Brazil Airpass is designed for Economy class trips through Brazil and Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, via the services of TAM Airlines (JJ and/or PZ).
- 1.2 The Airpass is available when purchased in connection with any Star Alliance intercontinental ticket, issued outside of Brazil for travel to/via Brazil.
- 1.3 Only one Star Alliance Brazil Airpass per international journey may be purchased.
- 1.4 The Airpass can be bought in combination with Star Alliance redemption programme tickets. However it may not be sold in combination with ID/AD tickets.
- 1.5 All flights of the Star Alliance Brazil Airpass will accrue miles to the passengers nominated Star Alliance Frequent Flyer Programme, depending on its rules and terms and conditions.
2 Fare Calculation
- 2.1 The total airfare is determined by the number of coupons plus applicable fees, taxes and surcharges.
- 2.2 Infants under 2 years not occupying a seat pay 10% of the applicable adult fare. If an infant turns 2 years during the journey, full adult fare will be applied. Proof of age is required at time of ticketing. Children and infants must be accompanied on all sectors by a Star Alliance Brazil Airpass adult passenger. Unaccompanied children or infants are not accepted.
3 Planning the Route
- 3.1 There is no minimum stay required for your trip. It may last up to 3 months from the beginning of your travel on the first Airpass coupon to completion of travel on the last Airpass coupon, but may not exceed the validity of your intercontinental ticket.
- 3.2 Stopovers are limited to one in each city. A stopover is a stay of more than 24 hours in the same city.
- 3.3 Individual segments may not be flown more than once in the same direction, except for connections.
- 3.4 Surface sectors in-between are allowed at your own expense and excluded from the coupon limit and Airpass fare.
- 3.5 The Star Alliance Brazil Airpass consists of 4 to 9 flight coupons. Changing flights at a transfer/connecting point requires an additional coupon.
4 The Ticket and Advance Reservations
- 4.1 The first segment must be confirmed before departure. The subsequent flights may be left open.
- 4.2 Brazil Airpass fares apply only to residents who do not live in Brazil and must be issued outside of Brazil. A valid proof of residence (such as a permanent visa or driving license) must be presented on demand.
- 4.3 The Star Alliance Brazil Airpass has to be issued separately from your intercontinental ticket.
- 4.4 On domestic flights your international ticket must be presented at time of check in.
5 Change of Plans
- 5.1 Rebooking is permitted and subject to a USD 30 fee for flight or date changes.
- 5.2 Rerouting is not permitted.
6 Cancellations & Refunds
- 6.1 Before departure: ticket is refundable with the deduction of a cancellation charge of USD 100 per person.
- 6.2 After departure: Non-refundable.
7 Baggage
- 7.1 The Baggage Allowance is the same as for the intercontinental ticket to which the Airpass is connected. In case of a multi-airline ticket, the more restrictive rules shall apply.
- 7.2 A charge of 0.5% of the applicable fare applies in the event of excess baggage per extra kilo.
- 7.3 For excess baggage charges, please contact the Star Alliance member airline concerned.
8 Other Terms & Conditions

- 8.2 The carriage of passengers and baggage is subject to the conditions of carriage of the carriers concerned, copies of which may be requested from each Star Alliance member airline.
