Its operational centre for passenger and cargo services is located at its first hub Frankfurt, its second hub is based in Munich. Other key locations in Germany are Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin and Stuttgart.

They shape the image of the company and also ensure the ongoing success of this company. The latest news is the first Lufthansa Welcome lounge at their largest hub in Frankfurt. The top customers are welcomed in a dedicated terminal in Frankfurt. They receive exclusive treatment on the ground including a personal shuttle service direct to the aircraft. In order to extend this luxury programme, the airline will invest approximately 150 million Euros by 2013, in building new lounges and modernising those already in existence - Travelling with Lufthansa will be as pleasant as ever.
Passenger transportation is the Group’s core business: The airlines engaged in the passenger transportation business of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines are Lufthansa, Lufthansa Regional and Lufthansa Italia. Large, modern and environmentally compatible, the Lufthansa Passenger Airlines fleet comprises aircraft of almost every size. The entire fleet complies with the most stringent noise criteria worldwide. Quality and innovation, safety and reliability remain the Lufthansa hallmarks and will also guarantee the success of the Group in the future. Lufthansa Passenger Airlines is the biggest business segment in the Group. These figures reflect just this segment.
In the 2009 business year, the airlines in the Lufthansa Passenger Airlines welcomed more than 55 million passengers on board their flights. The Lufthansa Passenger Airlines fleet currently consists of more than 420 aircraft – on order are another 146, valued at a total of 13 billion Euros at list price and scheduled for delivery between 2010 and 2016. With its ongoing expenditure in fleet renewal, the Group is consistently making the fleet more cost-efficient and its operations more environment-friendly. In May 2010 Lufthansa took delivery of its first Airbus A380 in the configuration of 526 seats. The entirely new First Class cabin with eight generously proportioned seats on the upper deck gives reflects the concept of individuality and offers the ultimate in comfort and technical innovation, which further enhances the travel experience. Also on the upper deck is the prize-winning Lufthansa Business Class cabin with 98 seats. On the main deck, the 420 seats in the impressively spacious Economy Class cabin provide an unprecedented level of passenger comfort. On 11 June 2010 the A380 commenced its scheduled flights on the Frankfurt-Tokyo route, replacing the current Boeing 747-400 service. From the end of August, according to the latest planning, Lufthansa will operate the A380 from Frankfurt to Beijing and from the end of October on the Frankfurt-Johannesburg route.
The Lufthansa Group currently employs around 118,000 people. In the 2009 business year, it returned revenues totalling 22.3 billion Euros.
