The Slovenian national airline Adria Airways has a wealth of experience spanning over 49 years in charter and scheduled air traffic. The Adria Airways story dates back to 1961, when it was founded as a charter company. In the eighties, the airline started serving scheduled routes, and became a member of the IATA, the International Air Transport Association.

Today the majority of Adria Airways business is in scheduled flights. Its network links Ljubljana with more than 20 cities throughout Europe and offers excellent connections to South East Europe. Adria Airways offers around 220 scheduled flights each week to Amsterdam, Belgrade, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Kiev, London, Moscow, Munich, Paris, Podgorica, Pristina, Sarajevo, Skopje, Stockholm, Tirana, Warsaw, Vienna and Zurich. In the summer Adria Airways also operates flights to Athens, Barcelona, Madrid, Manchester and Dublin.

Adria Airways operates charter flights for the most part seasonally, and most frequently to destinations in the Mediterranean. Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada in Egypt are currently the only charter destinations served by Adria Airways all year round.

The company’s head office is in Ljubljana and has representative offices in Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport, Brussels, London, Paris, Moscow, Frankfurt, Munich, Zagreb, Zurich and Vienna, and sales agents in almost all European countries.

In August 2004 Adria was one of the first airlines to receive IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) Registration (www.iata.org/registry), which determines the level of organisation of the company, its operating procedures and also the flight safety and security of the company.

In November 2006 the e-ticket was launched. In 2006 for the first time since 1991 over a million passengers were carried.

Two Canadair Regional Jet CRJ900 aircraft joined the fleet in May 2007 and June 2007. Two Canadair Regional Jet CRJ900 NextGen joined the fleet in December 2008 and in January 2009. Two Airbus A319 aircraft joined the fleet in April 2010 and May 2010.

Today Adria Airways operates the flights with 14 aircraft: 1 Airbus A320, 2 Airbus A319, 4 Canadair Regional Jet CRJ900, 6 Canadair Regional Jet CRJ200 and 1 Canadair Regional Jet CRJ100 .This is one of the most modern fleets in Europe and is both environment-friendly and economical.

Adria Airways received a European Union JAR 145 certificate and has also been providing maintenance and service work for other airlines at its hangars. Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace Canada selected Adria for its Heavy Maintenance Facility for Canadair Regional Jet aircraft because of its expertise and extensive experience. Since 2005 Adria Airways also performs maintenance work on the Airbus A320 family. Since 2002 Adria Airways performed maintenance work on approximately 620 foreign aircraft.

As a long-term partner of major European airlines, particularly of Lufthansa, in December 2004 Adria was accepted as a regional partner into the strongest strategic airline grouping, Star Alliance, which demonstrates that we are a reliable and high-quality carrier. In this way we have also clearly set out our business model as a network carrier offering global services. In January 2010 Adria Airways became a full member of Star Alliance.
