New web site launched to mark second anniversary

Only two months after the Star Alliance network expanded throughout Asia-Pacific with the addition of new member airlines Ansett Australia and Air New Zealand, the Star Alliance network is breaking new ground in cyberspace. With the launch today of its new Web site in honour of its second anniversary, the world's first airline alliance introduces the first truly customized travel planner that can be printed, e-mailed and saved indefinitely for future reference or use. Called My Travel Manager™ (MTM™), it features dynamic links designed to fulfil the alliance's promise of seamless travel. Interested browsers and visitors who have yet to become affiliated with a Star Alliance carrier's frequent flyer programme are welcome to explore the possibilities.

All passengers on Star Alliance airlines enjoy the benefits of air travel made increasingly hassle-free and seamless, and the efficiencies of a carefully integrated network. Even when transferring between Star Alliance member airlines, passengers can get boarding passes right through to their destination, and flight schedules are being refined to reduce connection times between Star Alliance carriers to a minimum. The Star Alliance airlines have worked together closely since May 14, 1997, which gives them a significant lead when it comes to providing value to airline travellers.

Previous Star Alliance milestones include: the creation of an endorsement waiver policy; the implementation of an integrated frequent flyer programme policy resulting in qualifying miles to frequent travellers; the introduction of Priority Check-in, Priority Reservation Waitlist and Priority Airport Standby where allowed by law; and the harmonisation of Priority Baggage handling.
